2. I paid 1700euro for the top miele in 2004 and its still brilliant and has never ever stopped working,but the top machine in 2022 is now 2800euro.As for the top dryer at 3000euro.

5. We bought w 5780 washer 10 years 2 months ago. It had 10 years warranty. We estimate we did 5 washes per weak for 10 years. That is about 2600 washes. Last week it had fault which put the motor into max spin immediately. We paid for visit at @90 pounds. It was indeterminate answer about whether new motor (@£300 appprox) and new controller pcb @ £150 approx. So not a definite answer about whether approx £500 parts would actually fix. Just saying. At the local euronics store, salesman suggested the average life of appliances was 7 years. Looks our washer was way down on the left hand tail of that normal distribution, which has 20 Yr average.

9. My mum has had hers for over 20 years — she has just purchased a new one and she is struggling to get it to work it keeps peeping and it is driving her crazy!

10. Our W864 washer cost £550 20yrs ago. It has lived in the garage and goes almost every day incl regular boil washes. Still looks brand new. I have only replaced X1 set of motor brushes, X1 door Seal, shock absorbers, toothed motor belt costing a total of about £150 in parts…..own labor. It has earned a replacement.

11. The over-riding benefit of a heat pump in a tumble dryer is energy saving. You didn’t even mention this, particularly in the current energy crisis. A heat pump dryer typically uses 30-40% of the electricity of a conventional condensing dryer.

12. Newer Miele use crappy parts like TNY2XX power IC for standby power rail. It will blow out in few years, and the distributor will only replace the whole controller board. It costs more than $700 for the replacement in Taiwan, and the cycle begins.

13. Our old Meile lasted 18 years with a few repairs BUT our new Miele is an expensive disaster . It’s so difficult to use and stops all the time and the cycles fail , everything about Miele is so hard to understand and hard to use , hard to get good service even their web sit is a confusing mess and I can’t even find a manual . Just trying to work out which is the serial number is so hard also. This new machine has finished me with Miele products and I will never buy one ever again . Can’t wait to get rid of this machine it’s so annoying .
